Year Founded

Patterson-UTI’s roots began in 1978 with the drilling operations of Patterson Energy in West Texas and also in 1987 with the spin-off of the drilling and oilfield services business of UTI Energy from a gas production company in the Northeast U.S.  In 2001, Patterson Energy and UTI Energy merged to form Patterson-UTI. The combined company continued to grow through a series of successful mergers and acquisitions. Today, our company comprises an impressive collective of top-tier talent, equipment and technology. As one of the leading oilfield services companies in North America with products and services in other regions of the world, our success stems from our ready-to-serve culture and commitment to quality and safety.
