Brian Cook and Adam Burris, Co-Founders of Nextgen Trades, share a powerful conversation about work ethic, mentorship, skilled trades, and the need to give young people a clearer path into meaningful careers. Both were introduced to the workforce early — Brian through his family’s electrical work in oil and gas, and Adam through years of shop, field, and operations experience that eventually led him into leadership and business ownership. Their paths looked different, but both were shaped by long days, family businesses, oilfield lessons, and the belief that success is not limited to a college degree. Through Nextgen Trades, they are helping students understand the depth of opportunity that exists in trades, construction, energy, offshore work, data centers, service companies, and beyond. Their message is direct: young people do not need to follow one traditional path to build a strong life, but they do need guidance, work ethic, financial awareness, and mentors who are willing to show up.
